David J. Culbertson
Mr. Culbertson has an MBA degree with graduate work done at Ohio State University and Ball State University. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University with a major in English and a minor in Accounting. During two years in the Army with one year in Vietnam he was awarded two Army Commendation Medals and a Bronze Star. Originally from Indiana, he now lives in New York with his wife Emily, who was formerly a missionary for The Navigators. He has five children and nine grandchildren with two great grandchildren.
He has worked in manufacturing for 50 years in both factory supervision and accounting. He began his career running a miniature golf course, selling door-to-door subscriptions, making fast food hamburgers and digging ditches. He has since been involved in 20 different manufacturing companies in various industries including rubber, glass, televisions, furniture, cryogenic vessels, medical supplies, meat processing, injection molding, plastic extrusion, freight and warehousing. He has performed virtually every manufacturing and corporate position in general factory work, maintenance, research and development, inventory control, shipping and receiving, production scheduling, payables, receivables, payroll, human resources, purchasing and sales. His career has advanced through the positions of Manufacturing Manager, Accounting Manager, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Culbertson joined National Pipe & Plastics, Inc. in 1997 as Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. He was named President and CEO in 2003 and purchased the company from a Japanese parent in 2004. He has experience in international affiliations, corporate board meetings in Manhattan, mergers and acquisitions, industrial revenue bonds, real estate transactions, environmental assessments, property appraisals and contract negotiations. National Pipe has been producing PVC pipe in Vestal, NY since 1970. The company has a second plant in Colfax, NC and owns property in Endicott, NY. National sells 250 million pounds of PVC pipe per year to 3,000 customers in the U.S. and Canada east of the Mississippi River with the help of 300 employees.
He has served the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Government Affairs Committee, Consolidation Committee, Economic Development Committee and Unshackle Upstate Committee. He is Past President of the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program (GBEOP). He has taught numerous Junior Achievement classes in grades three through twelve and delivered several presentations to business classes at Binghamton University. In 2006 he was Small Business Advocate of the Year for the Chamber. He filled a consulting position for a year as interim Operations Manager at Davis College, a Christian Bible College in Binghamton. Business affiliations include PVC Chairman for the Plastic Pipe and Fittings Association (PPFA) and Chairman of the Uni-Bell Pipe Association. In 2005 he was Partner of the Year for the Vinyl Institute.
His favorite pastime is Bible study.
Mr. Siegel has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Juniata College with a certificate in Finance and Accounting from Rice University.
Matt began his career with General Electric as a Sales Engineer and has worked steadily within the electrical, plumbing and municipal pipe industry for almost two decades.
Matt has been active in industry associations, having served as Chairman of the Operating Committee for the Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association, as well as Chairman of the PVC Product Line Committee for the Plastic Pipe & Fittings Association. He's a past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association, where he currently serves on the Board of Directors. He is also serving on the Board of Directors for the Plastic Pipe & Fttings Association. Matt has also participated in several Vinyl Institute Congressional Fly-Ins, where he lobbies members of Congress on behalf of the Vinyl Industry.
He is currently the Vice President of National Pipe & Plastics. Joining our team in the fall of 2011, Matt has focused on diversifying our product offerings, expanding our service territory and streamlining operations.
Matt has been married to his wife Nancy for over 30 years. Their daughter Emma lives in California. His hobbies include golf, travel, and wine. Lots of wine.
Shelley Suer has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from The State University of New York at Oswego. She began her career as an auditor for a public accounting firm. She joined the National Pipe team in 1984 in the Accounts Payable Department.
She has risen through the ranks of our Finance and Accounting Department, holding positions as Payroll Manager, Assistant to the Controller, and Corporate Controller.
In 2004 she was promoted to her current job as Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer and is part of the Executive Team. Shelley uses her more than 20 years of expertise in our industry to make strategic financial decisions to guide the company through economically turbulent times and periods of growth.
Shelley and her husband Rick have been married for more than 25 years. She has three children and two grandchildren.
