Joint Deflection Redirection of the lay line for PVC pressure pipe can be achieved by three different options:
PVC or MJ Fittings are used for significant change in direction of piping during the installation.
Longitudinal bending, within limits, of successive pipe lengths can provide a sweeping arc to obtain a gradual change in direction.
Joint deflection or offset is the angular displacement of spigot end of pipe length to the previous pipe length at the bell joint assembly. Ground settlement, frost heave or unstable soil condition must be considered for this method of directional change of pipeline because the allowable deflection tolerance of the integral bell design may be exhausted.
